Hi, I’m Kennedy Sumlar, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) providing services via telehealth and in person in Ontario. I have a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, substance use treatment and culturally responsive therapy and am especially passionate about providing inclusive, affirming mental health services to underserved communities. I have experience with supporting individuals, couples and families through a variety of life challenges.
Approach:
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and family systems work to support my clients in navigating stress, trauma, and relational issues. I strive to create a safe, empowering environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported in their journey toward healing. My work is informed by a strong belief in equity and the importance of culturally relevant care.
