Stephanie McPherrin
LPCC
Hello, I’m Stephanie. it is my privilege to provide a little background about my experience and education in hopes that you can choose the best match for your counseling treatment.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC5710) with almost 16 years of clinical experience with adults, children (6 years and older), families, and couples. When conducting counseling, I believe it is important to see the client and the counselor as a team working together to accomplish the client’s goals.
Typically, I will utilize a Cognitive Behavioral therapy model, but will use varied intervention styles dependent on the client’s needs. I am also an EMDR certified therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). These approaches respect the individual and provide treatment that is evidence based. My style is characterized by honesty, approachability, non-judgment, and compassionate understanding.
I have a strong treatment background in the following areas: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Exposure and Response Prevention), motor/vocal tics (Tourettes), Anger Management, Childhood Behavioral problems (including dual diagnosis of ADHD), Trichotillomania, Depression, Anxiety, panic, Phobias, PTSD, and Bipolar Disorder. If permitted and desired by the client, I maintain collaborative contact with doctors and psychiatrists to ensure I can provide the most comprehensive treatment possible. Further, my experience has allowed me to provide counseling services to those of various cultural backgrounds, world views, and religions. I personally see these aspects as strengths that can be utilized for resiliency and improvement in therapy.
As for my education, sociology and psychology were my double majors at Bethel College, Indiana where I earned my bachelor’s degree. My Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology was obtained from Argosy University, Chicago in 2009.
