Coralyn Alllen
LCSW
Experience – I have experience as a Substance Abuse Counselor assisting parents whose children had been removed from the home to recover from addiction and alcoholism and reclaim their children. I have worked in a State Hospital with the chronically mentally ill to help them come to understand their mental illnesses, their relapse triggers, and strategies for coping with their symptoms. I have also worked with the Prison population as they work to understand how they came to commit their crimes, accept responsibility for their actions and learn to live as a law-abiding citizen.
Approach – I am a frequent user of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy exploring the connections between Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors. I believe that all people have the right to live in a safe environment, have adequate medical care, good nutrition, the support of others, and an opportunity to work, play and find joy. I believe that people under the most extreme circumstances can be redeemed. I believe that people can change and deserve a second or third chance.
